Cheney: Guantanamo policy 'is the correct one'

"Those who most urgently advocate that we shut down Guantanamo probably don't agree with our policy anyway," the vice president said..."

So, Chicago just spent $270 million of public money on Millenium Park. The park features a metallic structure that vaguely resembles certain female sex toys.

The only problem? You need a permit to photograph this structure. The "rights" are owned by the designer.

Now, last time I checked, something that is paid for in public funds (ie tax dollars) belongs to the public (ie the taxpayers). Imagine if the maker of a bridge made you pay for a permit to drive across his artwork, even though it was paid for with public funds.

This is a very disturbing trend.

Also known as the PNAC.

Here is a brief introduction to the PNAC, courtesy of DemocraticUnderground.com.

Here is a Wikipedia entry about the PNAC.

This is required reading if you are frightened by the ascension of the neo-cons in our country, and the implications that it will have-- both for our domestic freedoms and future attempts of imperialism by the neo-con fascists.

US officially calls off search for WMD in Iraq.

So what the fuck are we there for now? Our pretenses were false, so now we are illegally occupying a sovereign nation. Not that that matters to Bush, who believes he operates by a divine mandate.

Subject:Warning From A Student Of Democracy's Collapse

FRITZ STERN, a refugee from Hitler's Germany and a leading scholar of European history, startled several of his listeners when he warned in a speech about the danger posed in this country by the rise of the Christian right. In his address in November, just after he received a prize presented by the German foreign minister, he told his audience that Hitler saw himself as "the instrument of providence" and fused his "racial dogma with a Germanic Christianity." These are the fruits of war.

The most sickening part: The US Military "deeply regrets the loss of possibly innocent lives" (emphasis mine). So the reasoning is that they were probably terrorists, but just in case they weren't, OOPS! It's like when a kid hits another kid, gets yelled at, and just grins and say "I won't do it again!" How do you argue that 7 kids were possibly innocent?

And we wonder why the world hates America. There is something we lack... it's called a soul (or a conscience if you don't believe in the soul).

Subject:'Axis Of Evil' Top Bush's Second-Term Agenda
Posted by:diggity_diggles.
Time:4:54 pm.
WASHINGTON (AP) — The three countries President Bush called an "axis of evil" in his first term are at the top of his foreign policy to-do list in the second, along with a revitalized Mideast peace process and continued efforts to repair European alliances frayed by the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq.

Does anyone else find it ironic that Bush is seeking a "revitalized Mideast peace process" while simultaneously plundering their natural resources, and invading sovereign nations? Peace at the point of a gun.

Subject:US Contemplating Life Long Detainment Of Terror Suspects
Posted by:diggity_diggles.

"No state shall ... deprive any person of life, liberty, or property without due process of law." - US Constitution, 14th Amendment.

The Bush administration is considering lifetime detention of suspected terrorists, even if there is not enough evidence to charge them in court.

We need somebody to speak out on this. The ACLU, or something. Once Bush is allowed to hold a "terrorist" (which, let's not forget, is anybody who disagrees with him) for life, it's only a small stretch to have that apply to American citizens. This would be an awful precedent, set by an awful president.
